About the RX 580
The RX 580 was released by AMD in March 2017 as part of their Polaris architecture family. This graphics card came with many improvements from increased clock speed (1250 MHz), memory bandwidth(266 GB/s) and so much more.
It also has support for DirectX 12 Ultimate features including multi-threaded compute shaders 10_2, SP1, etc., PhysX core engine 1.4, and TXAA 2.0 anti-aliasing technology. With all those advancements, the price tag of the RX 580 seems quite decent compared to previous generations.
So how does the RX 580 compare against Nvidia 1080Ti and 1070 GPUs?
Well, both the RX 580 and the two mentioned above belong to the same generation and are based on the 14nm FinFET microarchitecture. However, the performance gap between them is huge.
As per benchmarks conducted by Tom’s Hardware Reviews, the RX 580 outperforms the GTX 1080Ti by around 32% at 1080p resolution while beating the Titan X Pascal by 15%, 20% respectively at 1440p and 4K resolutions.
Also, another benchmark conducted by Overclockers Club shows that the RX 580 performs way better than the GTX 1080Ti and RTX 2070 Super.
So, now that you know everything about the RX580 let us move on towards finding the right PSUs that suit your requirements without hampering your budget.
Importance of a Good PSU For Gaming
Now that you’ve got a basic knowledge of the RX 580, you must have realized the necessity of choosing a suitable Power Supply Unit (PSU). A good PSU ensures quality service throughout the life cycle of your rig. And since you need a reliable source of power to run your games smoothly, you must invest wisely in a decent PSU unit. Here are a few reasons why purchasing a high-end PSU is necessary for today’s gamers.
High wattage power supply units provide ample juice to keep up with the demands of modern-day video games. More wattage results in higher overclocking potential, faster fan speeds, and longer-lasting fans.
Longer warranties mean fewer chances of mechanical breakdown due to malfunctioning internal heat sinks and fans.
Better efficiency means lower energy wastage, resulting in money savings.
Higher operating temperatures lead to thermal throttling causing poor FPS and crashing during intensive gameplay.
80+ Certification Rating Explained
These are generally considered to be the highest quality power supplies offering superior reliability, efficiency, and durability. They usually feature long warranty periods, efficient cooling solutions, and multiple protection mechanisms. Usually, 80+ gold-rated PSUs come with 80 PLUS logo certification. Although they cost slightly more than regular 80+ rated models, they still remain relatively cheaper than the platinum and Titanium series. Hence, it’s worth investing a bit extra to purchase them.
