There’s a lot of different motherboards to pick from, especially for AMD CPUs which unlike Intel CPU’s, they allow you to overclock regardless of what model you have, thus every motherboard can look similar, and knowing which one will provide you the best performance for its price ratio can be hard to figure out.

That’s why we are here, to help you out by giving you a few different motherboards that will work for your cpu.

Why should you trust our reviews/opinions?

Here at TechReviewTeam, we test every single CPU & Motherboard before writing a detailed review on them. Unlike other websites, we don’t simply write reviews on products we’ve never tested. While others write reviews based on “theoretical performance” that the product SELLER ADVERTISES, we actually take our time to test the product we talk about & share the knowledge with you.

With that said, the following AMD CPUs will be compatible with the motherboards in our list:

    • Ryzen 3 2300x
    • Ryzen 5 2500x
    • Ryzen 5 2600x
    • Ryzen 5 2600
    • Ryzen 5 2700
    • Ryzen 5 2700x
    • Threadripper 2920x
    • Threadripper 2950x
    • Ryzen 3 3100
    • Ryzen 3 3300x
    • Ryzen 5 3500
    • Ryzen 5 3500x
    • Ryzen 5 3600x
    • Ryzen 5 3600
    • Ryzen 7 Pro 3700
    • Ryzen 7 3700x
    • Ryzen 7 3800x
    • Ryzen 9 3900
    • Ryzen 9 Pro 3900
    • Ryzen 9 3900x
    • Threadripper 3960x
    • Threadripper 3970x
    • Threadripper 3990x
    • Ryzen 5 5600x
    • Ryzen 7 5800
    • Ryzen 7 5800x
    • Ryzen 9 5900
    • Ryzen 9 5900x
    • Ryzen 9 5950x

Before proceeding, I would like to suggest you to NOT pick the cheapest motherboard you find, the extremely cheap ones (70$ ones) are often quite terrible in terms of sound quality, overall hardware quality, most of the time won’t support high RAM Frequency which is EXTREMELY important for CPU performance, won’t provide stable overclocks & often can go faulty after a year or two. Save yourself all that pain and simply go for one of the motherboards that we suggest, although they will not be as cheap they are 100% tested quality products.

We will be splitting the Ryzen Series into different motherboard sections because although some motherboards can work for other Series, we do not recommend them as they are either far too advanced to be worth using for Ryzen of that Series or they would need a BIOS Update which we never suggest anyone to do when you can simply get a motherboard made for that exact series without the hassle of updating the BIOS.

Best Motherboards Compatible With Ryzen 2000 Series

The Ryzen 2000 series is becoming a bit old now since they were released back in 2018, however, they are still quite powerful & good budget CPUs! All this time also allowed for motherboard manufacturers to improve their products which is good news for anyone looking to get a 2000 series CPU, the following are motherboard compatible with:

    • Ryzen 3 2300x
    • Ryzen 5 2500x
    • Ryzen 5 2600x
    • Ryzen 5 2600
    • Ryzen 5 2700
    • Ryzen 5 2700x
    • Threadripper 2920x
    • Threadripper 2950x

The 2000 Series can use any B350, X370, B450, X470 motherboard, however, the B350 & X370 may require a BIOS update plus they are older motherboards, as such we would suggest you go with a B450 or X470 as they are direct upgrades that don’t require you to update your BIOS and have high-quality hardware and features.

MSI Performance Gaming AMD X470X470Check best price amazon 300x120 1
ASUS ROG Strix X470-F GamingX470Check best price amazon 300x120 1

The “GIGABYTE B450 AORUS M” is the cheapest on the list that still provides good performance & overall hardware quality if you’re on a tight budget then this should be the one to get, however, if budget allows the “MSI Performance Gaming AMD X470” is in our opinion the best in terms of performance/price ratio and the one we would suggest you get. The “ASUS ROG Strix X470-F Gaming” is no doubt the best motherboard you could get for your 2000 Series CPU, however, it is also quite expensive when compared to the others.

Best Motherboards Compatible With Ryzen 3000 Series

The Ryzen 3000 series were the ones that set AMD CPUs apart from Intel, up until this point Intel CPUs were always the ones most people including gamers would go for due to performance & Price ratio, however, with the release of the 3000 everything changed with its incredible price & performance they were just unbeatable at the time. Even today, they are strong CPUs. The following are motherboard compatible with:

    • Ryzen 3 3100
    • Ryzen 3 3300x
    • Ryzen 5 3500
    • Ryzen 5 3500x
    • Ryzen 5 3600x
    • Ryzen 5 3600
    • Ryzen 7 Pro 3700
    • Ryzen 7 3700x
    • Ryzen 7 3800x
    • Ryzen 9 3900
    • Ryzen 9 Pro 3900

The 3000 series can use any B450, X470, B550 & X470 motherboards, however, some B450 and X470 motherboards MAY require BIOS update to work with the CPU, so again, we would recommend going with a B550 or X470 to avoid that problem but we will still provide you with several options should you desire to go that route.

The “ASUS ROG Strix X470-F Gaming” is the cheapest option on the list and while it is still good, it may require a BIOS update, so again, we would suggest you go with the “MSI MAG B550 TOMAHAWK” or the “ASUS AM4 TUF Gaming X570-Plus” as they’re very affordable for their chipset (B550 & X570) and will save you the trouble of having to do a BIOS update along with having overall better quality and features.

Best Motherboards Compatible With Ryzen 5000 Series

The Ryzen 5000 Series was the latest generation to be released currently, they still provide the insane price/performance ratios that the 3000 series did that allowed them to overtake Intel in the CPU race.

The 5000 series works with any B450, X470, B550 and X570 motherboard, however, like the 3000 series, the B450 / X470 WILL require BIOS update so we recommend going with a B550 or X570, the following motherboards will work with these CPUs:

  • Ryzen 5 5600x
  • Ryzen 7 5800
  • Ryzen 7 5800x
  • Ryzen 9 5900
  • Ryzen 9 5900x
  • Ryzen 9 5950x

We would suggest going with either the “MSI MAG B550 TOMAHAWK” or the “ASUS AM4 TUF GAMING X570-Plus” as they’re the latest chipset, don’t require BIOS update & are quite affordable, however, if you are looking to get the very best motherboard then the “GIGABYTE X570 AORUS Elite” is the one you should be going for.

For example, if you’re looking specifically for a gaming motherboard or overclocking board then a few extra clicks may be necessary to find what you need without scrolling through every single product listing page. (If you just get the ones we mentioned in this buyer’s guide you’ll be fine though) However other than that, these boards offer amazing features and performance.

Benefits and disadvantages of Gigabyte Brand?

    – Gigabyte is a high-end brand, they have the experience and quality to back themselves up with their products.

    – They also offer great customer service.

The disadvantages of the Gigabyte brand is that they seem to be more focused on producing high-end boards which are considerably more expensive than this one, and they don’t have a lot of lower end boards available for people with less costly builds.

Benefits and disadvantages of MSI Brand?

MSI has been in the industry for a long time and is one of the best-known manufacturers when it comes to motherboards. The company offers high quality products, but they are not affordable by everyone. However, MSI provides features that other companies don’t offer at competitive prices which makes them worth investing into if you have the money available.

The disadvantages can be many depending on how much power your system needs or what type of motherboard you need – as there are very few brands that provide all types (from mainstream to extreme).

What to look for in a motherboard?

    – Great price point

    – High-end performance

    – Efficient cooling capabilities

    – Full compatibility

    – More additional features.

The best board meets the demands of your system and is compatible with all your needs! It has to offer a high number of connectors, slots and features to make sure that you are not left out in any way – providing enough power for every component while giving them space to breathe resulting in less chance for overheating. When it comes down to getting the most bangs per buck it has got to have what you need without sacrificing the quality of your build.
