Choosing a motherboard can be difficult, especially when you are looking for the best motherboard for I9 9900KS.
There are so many different options out there that it is hard to know which one will work best for your needs. With this article, we hope to make your decision easier! We have done the research and put together a list of 4 great motherboards that should meet all of your requirements.
What to look for in a motherboard:
One of the most important things to look for in a motherboard is its socket. The socket should be compatible with this CPU, which means it needs an LGA1151-compatible socket so that you can attach your processor.
- PCI-E Slots
You will also want to make sure that there are enough PCI-E slots available on the board – typically these slot ranges from 16 all the way up to 32 depending on what type and model you purchase.
- Allows Overclocking
Since you got such a powerful CPU it would be a shame not to overclock it.

Difference between Intel “K” Model Processors and “KS” Model Processors
The “K” Models are designed to be more efficient in terms of power consumption and provide already decent speeds & decent overclock boosts. The “KS” Model Processors can provide better base clock speeds for a faster system when overclocked, but it is also less power-efficient than the other models in its series (which would make sense- these CPUs have higher TDPs).
The base speed of the KS model is 200Ghz higher and so is its Turbo speed. Conversely, you can also get a higher overclock boost.
Should you overclock your Unlocked “KS” model CPU?
In our opinion, you should. You got such a powerful Unlocked CPU, no reason not to overclock.
When you’re ready to overclock your CPU, it can provide a significant performance boost. You may want to consider this when buying the motherboard since you want one that allows you to overclock.
We recommend that you have a decent cooling system in place before overclocking; without proper cooling and care, your processor will quickly become unusable due to overheating or other damage.
To avoid damaging anything permanently, always make sure you understand all of the risks associated with overclocking beforehand so there are no surprises along the way!
How much cooling is needed for overclocking?
Different CPUs require different levels of cooling for overclocking. To make sure you have enough, we recommend starting with an air cooler before moving to water or any other type. For most processors, the best place to start is a CPU fan and heatsink. However, we always suggest getting an extra fan or two inside your desktop case to help with the airflow.
For some systems, this will be all that’s necessary; however, if your system comes equipped with liquid cooling from the factory then it may already provide adequate performance for overclocking purposes. If not, higher-end models such as AIOs are designed specifically for use in situations involving extreme temperatures and high rates of heat generation – making them ideal options for anyone looking to overclock their CPU!
